FOUNDER’S STORY

Mia Sablan is a passionate advocate and proud Chamorro Pacific Islander woman whose roots trace back to the idyllic shores of Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Graduated with her bachelor's degree in Business Management from Arizona State University, Mia's remarkable achievement of graduating debt-free on a merit-based, full-ride scholarship underscores her dedication and tenacity. During her time in university, Mia also immersed herself in various volunteer posts and campus organizations, honing her leadership skills, diverse network, and passion for helping others.

While Mia thoroughly enjoyed her university experience and diligently prepared for her career, she faced unexpected challenges throughout her journey. She began to recognize and feel first-hand the negative impacts of the opportunity gap, the gender pay gap, and the underrepresentation of Pacific Islander women in influential careers. These issues, once unfamiliar to her, quickly became a persistent reality. It influenced her decisions for her future, often even dictating her choices. There were many moments as she fought to overcome these obstacles that she felt discouraged and unsure of where to find support or who to turn to for help. Although Mia is now leading a successful career as a Strategic Sourcing Analyst, she acknowledges that these issues continue to exist for our Pacific Islander youth today.

Guided by her own journey and fueled by a deep sense of purpose to uplift the community that raised her, Mia founded our initiative with a singular mission: to empower fellow young aspiring Pacific Islander women, enabling them to nurture their leadership potential and create pathways for their careers. As we develop a membership base of rising Pacific Islander students, we will strive to create a supportive environment where dreams are realized, barriers are overcome, and a new generation of empowered Pacific Islander women leaders emerge to make impactful change in the world.

To empower young aspiring Pacific Islander women by providing educational and financial resources, enabling them to nurture their leadership potential and create pathways for their careers.
